ADD-ON

As an “add-on” is how Thomas Feichtner describes his design for Italian lighting manufacturer Karboxx, which was given its first public presentation at Euroluce 2013 in Milan. The incandescent light bulb has seen few changes since its invention over a century ago during electric light’s infancy. And even until quite recently, this classic was considered the quintessence of artificial lighting. But now, technological advances are generating a constant stream of new lamp types. The lighting element Add-On is compatible with all existing lamp formats as well as with ones that have yet to be introduced. For as its name would suggest, this lighting fixture is not permanently affixed to the light source but rather an expansion thereof, an “add-on”: it can be hung on any light source with a single motion of the hand, and the entire fixture is adjustable to the desired height simply by knotting the power cord. This ceramic lighting object is available in a variety of colors. 

Als sogenanntes “ Add-On“ bezeichnet Thomas Feichtner seinen Entwurf für den italienischen Leuchten-Hersteller Karboxx, der erstmals auf der Euroluce 2013 in Mailand präsentiert wurde. 

Seit der Entdeckung der Elektrizität hat sich die Glühbirne in den vergangenen 100 Jahren kaum verändert. Noch bis vor Kurzem war die klassische Glühbirne Inbegriff der Lichtquelle. Doch die technologische Entwicklung der letzten Jahre bringt ständig neue Leuchtmittel hervor. Die Leuchte Add-On ist offen für alle bestehende aber auch zukünftigen Formate. Denn wie der Name schon verrät, ist die Leuchte nicht fix mit der Lichtquelle verbunden sondern eine Erweiterung, ein “ Add-On“: Mit einem Handgriff  kann sie an jede beliebige Lichtquelle angehängt werden und durch einfache Knoten im Kabel kann man den Leuchtkörper beliebig in der Höhe verstellen. Das Keramik-Gehäuse ist in unterschiedlichen Farben erhältlich.
